In order to promote and expand the 2,500 crore Kerala ayurveda medicinal and therapeutic industry, the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) organized Ayurstart 2018, a first-of-its-kind contest for start-ups working in Ayurveda and allied sectors. The event was part of the National Ayurveda Startup Conclave and the 2nd edition of the Global Ayurveda Summit 2018 held on 21 – 23 November 2018 at Kochi, Kerala. The theme of the event was Mainstreaming Ayurveda through Startups and Brand.
Of Kerala’s ₹33,000 Crore annual tourism sector, 30 per cent comes from the health and wellness domain, and of that, 80 per cent comes from Ayurveda. CII Chairman. The event was aimed at disrupting existing practices and building on unique service, product and app ideas that increase the acceptance and application of Ayurveda worldwide. CII was working with the Kerala Startup Mission in identifying and supporting the best ideas generated.
The contest was open to students and professionals across the country. 200 applications were received and Healthekare was one of the 10 teams shortlisted for the final round of the contest where they were asked to make a 5 minute pitch to a panel of industry members and investors.
